Description: Edward Lear (12 May 1812 – 29 January 1888) was an English artist, illustrator, author, and poet, renowned today primarily for his literary nonsense, in poetry and prose, and especially his limericks, a form that he popularised. Alexander Ansted, (fl 1888 – 1894). Late Victorian painter and engraver of landscapes, his work is admired for its feeling of serenity and calm, especially his river scenes. A number of engravings of his are held by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
